NPSP Mission Statement: To engage, equip, and encourage congregations and members as together we serve Jesus Christ to transform the world.
Council Overview for such a time as this: Presbytery Council is a principal leadership and coordinating body of North Puget Sound Presbytery and steward of the presbytery’s mission. A visioning process conducted in 2005-06 lead to articulating a fresh vision and mission for NPS Presbytery (see mission statement above). We have also called a new Executive Presbyter to help lead the presbytery more deeply into its vision and mission. This is an adventurous time for serving the people and congregations of our presbytery through the Presbytery Council.
Articulating a new mission and embodying that mission are related, but different tasks. The latter requires strong leadership to urge our behaviors to follow our intentions and help presbyters change old habits and ways of being. In 2008-2010 the presbytery council will be dealing with unprecedented initiatives and initiatives that have been tried many times and need to be tackled again. Those who are part of this leadership team will be saying yes to significant leadership responsibilities and a stretching of their “energy, intelligence, imagination and love.” Their ministry will be profoundly beneficial to the faithfulness, health, and growth of our congregations and members along with those congregations and members who are not yet among us.
This is a time that calls for intentional discernment of God’s desire for and getting on board with God’s movement. Being faithful will require us to innovate which means acting with courage and risk and be willing to fail.
